Leather Bound

Our 3 year anniversary is coming up and it had me wondering - what (besides the sterotypical wallet, watch, bondageware or personalized briefcase) is there that would be unique and creative? I've come across some truly outstanding suggestions [sarcasm] while online. Here's a great suggestion I found on someone else's site. He asks the inarguable question: "The traditional gift for the 3rd Anniversary is leather. What could be a more appropriate gift than red leather roses?"
What could be?

For only $99 - you can have this keepsake (vase optional) that boasts your unending love... in the form of leather roses. How can I expand upon this?

I don't understand. When did it become necessary to give gifts for EVERY anniversary? It is understood that concessions, perhaps, can be made for significant time intervals, ie: 1-year, 5, 10, 25, and so on. Just as with Father's Day, Mother's Day, and Valentine's Day, rampant capitalism seems to have taken over the sentiment.

Why not just give a card & kiss to thank your mate for putting up with whatever ignominies he/she may have had to endure? Is it not enough to tell each other how much you love each other, and pledge to slog through for another year? Certainly, it would be a bit more practical.

I don't know, I could be wrong......

I like how you assume that I would have ignominies to apologize for, ha! And, as for the ones Rob has committed, a kiss is surely not enough.
I decided to abide by the very traditional wedding anniversary gift exchange when we got married. And, I try to be very cheap/creative about it, too. First year - paper - we exchanged cards. Second year - cotton - Rob got a towel to go to the beach. I agree, with the captalism comments... but you also sound like the type who may do sweet sentiments throughout the year, unprompted. Not all are like that and they, unfortunately, need the holiday reminders. And with that, greeting cards that cost $4.95 only to be tossed one week later.

Oh, of course....Sweet niceties like cut the lawn, weed the garden, fight off the poison ivy. Yeah, I'm good for that kind of really romantic crap....

So what you are saying is that maybe you DO need holidays to remind you to do romantic things like a card & a kiss? Hmmm...
I really want a full body massage. I hear they are the best. My skin feels like leather these days - would that count for a 3 year anniversary gift? Wait a minute,... that sounds like I'm offering up some suggestions to you Philbert....
