Halloween at Work
So, my team decided to dress as super heroes and I gave in to peer pressure... and came as the suggested "Poison Ivy".
Yes, I was not a hero but a villain.
OK, the above comments are not entirely fair.
I was excited at the chance to be a super hero when the idea was first tossed around. But as time marched on (and my time for costume shopping disappeared), I became more and more disenfranchised (is this the right word I'm looking for?). My team ordered costumes online or tried on expensive outfits at area Halloween stores (I'm thinking $59 is pretty pricey for a costume). I put it off and put it off until the weekend before when Rob dragged Evie around with me in my desperate search for green leggings or tights. After the baby crying non-stop that day and Rob missing out on his own free-time... I thought, "Screw this, this isn't worth all this."
And yet Rob still looked online and found thigh-high (yes, thigh-high) green socks for me and even went out to buy them for me. Last minute, I went with my pair of black long underwear and thought "Who cares?" I bought green eye shadow, eye liner, obnoxious 99ยข red lip stick and an ivy wreath. And so, I was "Poison Ivy".
As you can see, my team members (bat girl is my boss. wonder woman is my direct report. super girl and clark kent are the asst art directors above me) all got costumes WELL WORTH THE MONEY. Aren't they excellent? Next year, I'm BUYING my costume.
Then again, I did WIN a Samsung 2GB MP3 player for an original creative/costume prize. Too bad it only works on PC *sigh*, but, hey! Its worth $125! Maybe my desperate shopping trips WERE woth it after all...
Oh, and the hulk? He's a lead copywriter in my team and he won the biggest prize that day - a Canon Rebel SLR digital camera! NICE! Well worth the multiple showers he undoubtedly faced that evening...
